Custom Virus-Like Particle (VLP) Packaging

abm offers a unique non-viral mRNA packaging service based on Virus-Like Particle (VLP) technology. VLPs are nanoscale delivery vehicles that structurally resemble viruses but lack viral genomes, rendering them non-replicative and inherently safer. VLPs are produced by co-transfecting three specialized plasmids – Cargo, PEG10 and Fusogen – into production cells, where the Cargo mRNA is selectively packaged into assembled particles and released into the medium. The resulting VLPs are then purified and can be used to transiently deliver Cargo mRNA into the target cell line. abm’s service includes gene synthesis and cloning of the Cargo Plasmid as well as VLP production and purification. To get started on your custom VLP project, simply click the Inquire button below.

Advantages of VLP:

  • No risk of insertional mutagenesis
  • Improved safety profile
  • Reduced cellular toxicity
  • Improved delivery efficieny vs non-viral vectors
  • Broad cell type compatibility vs non-viral vectors
