B-Galactosidase
Cat. No. | CH036 |
Name | B-Galactosidase |
Category | Buffers & General Chemicals |
Description |
β-Galactosidase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of β-galactosides into monosaccharides. In molecular biology, it is widely used as a reporter enzyme in gene expression studies, commonly through the lacZ gene system. When expressed in cells, β-galactosidase activity can be detected using chromogenic or fluorogenic substrates such as X-gal or ONPG, making it ideal for blue/white screening, promoter analysis, and transfection assays. |
