Cat. No. | CH013 |
Name | BCIP, 5-Bromo-4-Chloro-3-Indolyl Phosphate |
Category | Buffers & General Chemicals |
Description |
CIP Disodium Salt (5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl phosphate) is a chromogenic substrate commonly used in alkaline phosphatase (AP)-based detection systems. Upon enzymatic cleavage by alkaline phosphatase, BCIP produces an insoluble blue-purple precipitate, making it ideal for blotting (e.g., Western, Southern, Northern) and in situ hybridization applications. BCIP is often used in combination with NBT (Nitro Blue Tetrazolium) for enhanced color development and sensitivity. |
