What is the molecular weight of this primer? | |
The molecular weight of the primer can be calculated as follow (it is just 5'-NNNNNN-3'):
MW = (dA = 314.21g/mol) + (dC = 289.18g/mol) + (dG = 329.21g/mol) + (dT = 304.19g/mol)/4 x 6 – 62.97 + 1.008
The weight must be corrected by subtracting 62.97, which is equal to two oxygen atoms and a phosphorus atom, to account for the 5’-terminal OH group, and by adding 1.008, which is equal to one hydrogen atom, to account for the 3’-terminal OH group.
Please note that this would be just the average MW of the N6 random primer.
